Shooting the Genie
Bringing the ADAC Genie to life on set required careful planning and collaboration. We shot the genie in a studio, where our actor worked within an entirely green-screen environment to later blend seamlessly into the CGI world. To create the genie’s dynamic entrance and floating movement, we enlisted a stunt crew to suspend the actor on ropes, allowing him to perform with the freedom and weightlessness of a true magical being.
VFX Magic: Creating the Perfect Chaos
To bring the flooded flat to life, we designed a series of intricate VFX elements that added realism and magic to the scene. We simulated water puddles that spread across the floor to the feeling of a true flooding disaster. A custom foam system was developed to replicate the look and movement of soap suds, giving the scene a chaotic but controlled mess that feels both dramatic and a bit humorous. Finally, we crafted a magical smoke element for the genie’s entrance, creating an iconic puff that conveys his otherworldly presence and seamlessly integrates with the foam and water effects.
Building the World
To provide the client with maximum flexibility across various adaptations, we created the entire flat environment from scratch in CGI. Every detail was carefully crafted to establish an interior design language that would resonate with the target audience, blending a modern aesthetic with warm, inviting elements. From the layout to the textures, each element was designed to feel like a real, relatable home, enhancing the story’s authenticity and ensuring the setting felt natural even amid the magical chaos of the genie’s appearance. This fully CGI environment allowed us to control every aspect of the scene, seamlessly integrating it with the VFX elements.
